There is no lesson today as our centre is closed on Good Friday. We will reopen this Saturday, 20 April.

Olympiad Math — Sprint Style Questions

  1. List the 17th multiple of 8.
  2. Find the first 2 common multiples of the 7 and 11.
  3. Find the HCF of 168 and 236.
  4. Find the least number which should be added to 2497 so that the sum is exactly divisible by 3, 4, 5 and 6.
  5. When freshly plucked from a tree, 80% of a pear consists of water. After being exposed to the sun for an hour, 25% of the water had evaporated. What percentage of the pear consists of water now?
  6. The tickets for a dinner show were sold at $150 each. When the ticket price was reduced, the number of customers tripled and the total earnings doubled. By how much was the ticket price reduced?
  7. In an amusement park, adults and children were charged $13 and $6.50 respectively for a ride. A total of $3022.50 was collected from fewer than 400 of them. What was the smallest possible number of adults who took the ride?
  8. The number sequence is as follows:

    18, 21, 16, 23, 14, 25……

    Find the next 4 number in the sequence.

  9. At the end of the Olympics, all 20 sportsmen each representing a different country, shook hands with each of the other 19 sportsmen. How many handshakes were there?
  10. If the difference between 100x + 10y + z and 10z + y is 10x + z, what digits do x, y and z stand for?
