The answer to the first question should be 19 instead of 12 days?

It is said that Nicole will have 25% lesser money than Mandy..so..
    Nicole should have.. (23+148)/ 5 = 34

    Doing the long method..

    Nicole’s money
    148 to 142 — day 1
    142 to 136 — day 2

    40 to 34 — day 19

Therefore the answer should be day 19??

Hi, as stated in question, Mandy will have 25% more money than Nicole. However, this does not imply Nicole will have 25% less money than Nicole.

      E.g. M has $100 ; N has $80
      M has 25% more than N, but N has 20% less than M.

Mandy has 25% more money than Nicole.
      Mandy : 125% ; Nicole : 100%
      To simplify, ratio of M : N = 125:100 = 5:4

      Hope this helps.
