Mathematical Olympiad Training (MOT)
What is Mathematical Olympiad Training Course (MOT)?
MOT is a structured course for students who are interested to enrol in Mathematical Olympiad training. The course aims to build a strong foundation in Mathematical Olympiad topics and equips students with the necessary skills needed to tackle Mathematical Olympiad questions.
Who can participate in MOT?
MOT is targeted at students aged 9 years and below. Students aged 8 years and below are required to pass a Modular Diagnostic Paper (MDP) in order to enter MOT. MDP will test topics related to the four operations (+, –, ×, ÷) and simple fractions (equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions). This is to ensure that students have the necessary foundation to be able to cope in MOT. The duration of the MDP is 1½ hour, chargeable at $20.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Is there any entry requirement to enrol in MOT?
There is no minimum age requirement. However, students aged 8 years or younger will need to pass a Modular Diagnostic Paper (MDP) to enrol in MOT. This is to ensure that students have the necessary foundation to be able to cope in MOT. The duration of the MDP is 1½ hour, chargeable at $20. New students who are joining MOT1 in Term 3, however, will be exempted from taking the MDP as the MDP topics will be covered in class. - What will be tested in the MDP?
The MDP will test topics related to the four operations (+, –, ×, ÷) and simple fractions (equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions). - What happens if my child is not able to pass the MDP?
You can either choose to enrol your child in IQ classes (offered at selected centres), or to attend individual / group coaching sessions and sit for a retest (individual / group coaching rates apply). - My child is 7 years’ old / below 7 years’ old. Which course should I register?
If the student is 7 years’ old or younger, he needs to pass the MDP and enrol in MOT1, or join MOT1 in Term 3.
- My child is 8 years’ old. Which Level should I register?
If the student is 8 years’ old, he needs to pass the MDP before he can enter MOT. If he joins before Term 3, he should enrol in MOT1. If he joins in Term 3 or after, he should enrol in MOT2. - My child is 9 years’ old. Does he need to sit for the MDP?
Students aged 9 years’ old do not need to sit for the MDP. If the student joins before Term 3, he will join MOT2. From Term 3 onwards, 9 years’ old students should progress to NMOS 1. - Can I enrol my child for a trial lesson?
Yes, please call us to arrange. - What if my child misses a lesson?
There will not be any make-up/replacement class, but your child can come for a Math coaching session to do the worksheets that he missed (coaching session will not be IT interactive). - What is the difference between MOT1/MOT2 course conducted at your centre and the MOT course conducted at Maths Hub (Bukit Batok)?
The same MOT topics are covered across all centres. The main difference is the structure of the lessons. While our centre adopts a fixed lesson plan, Maths Hub (Bukit Batok) adopts a module-based structure.
